Seiko Mechanical Alpinist SARG005

I was looking for my first automatic watch and have always had good experiences with Seiko (quartz) watches. After much research I decided to look for a Tool watch with the 6R15 caliber movement. Shopping in Japan came up as a solid source for Japanese market watches, so I decided to buy. The watch arrived 2 days ago and I am delighted with the purchase level of craftsmanship and service from Shopping in Japan Highly recommend the watch (Seiko SARG005) and SIJ.

The watch looks very sporty and shows a perfect workmanship.

Excellent packing and easy buying process, only a week wait for the package to arrive in Vancouver, B.C. The watch is on a smaller side, but is absolutely perfect for small wrists. On the other hand, the included leather band is quite stiff, so it need to be worn for a week or so before it can be comfortably flexing. Photos don't do justice, the watch has to be seen in real life to be appreciated by you and people around you. Well worth the price.

Absolutely worth it. The watch is good looking and looks great with casual or nice wear. It seems to hold time well and needs winding, I think, every couple of days. (I wind it more frequently than that.) Shopping in Japan also is great to work with. This is my third purchase from SOJ and I would do it again without hesitation.

Bought a Seiko SARG005. Just a few words: I am well satisfied with the service of the staff, the promptness of the service, and the quality of the product. Would definitely buy from Shopping in Japan again.

As I posted in my SARB017 review two weeks ago, this is my second purchase on this site. Again, SIJ delivered the goods promptly (shipping to central Europe took one week incl. customs) and without any problems. I bought this watch to complement my SARB which is my go-to "informal" dress watch. This SARG is more of a toolwatch with it's mostly brushed surfaces (compared to the deep polishing of the SARB's). I like both finishes, brushed surfaces go nicely together with the SARG's larger size and cream dial with black numbers/hands. As it is the case with the SARB, also this watch looks much better than you would expect from photographs. The dial has a little bit of glare to it, applied SEIKO logo in silver is nice, printed numbers have a slight 3D look to them. Both the larger size and cream/black dial really help to improve legibility, which is really good on this watch. It has the same 6R15 movement as the SARB, without diashock absorber though. Also the second crown is little easier to turn, which causes the inner bezel to move a little bit unintentionally. The SARB is better in this aspect, also the movement of my SARB is little bit more accurate, but that's certainly due to piece-to-piece variation rather than a rule. My particular watch is 6-10 sec. a day fast. That's not bad and certainly can be further adjusted. All in all a great watch. But SARB017 is a better bang for your buck overal so that's the reason I gave the SARG 4 stars.

Bought this watch along with the SARB017 to take advantage of combined shipping. Was exactly as I expected and the shipping and service from ShoppingInJapan is the best I have ever had from international supplier, ever! So I'll be back to shop some more!

Finally my watch passed customs and it is already on my wrist. Great design, not big size, all features that I like and need. And also - all the best for SHOPPING IN JAPAN service. So, 5 starts.

This watch is very nice high quality Seiko watch. I ordered it as my first automatic watch which I have been looking for years. This is a high quality watch at a reasonable price. It looks very balanced with brown leather strap and "cream"-color display. Delivery was pretty fast. I received this in 12 days from order delivered to my home door.
