Seiko Astron SAST017G High Intensity Titanium (SAST017)

Nice design and high quality product, as expected from Seiko.

My first decent watch and I'm really happy with it. Just the right weight and substance for you to know it's there but not overwhelming. Very clear face and the GPS is a real talking point.

Another brilliant high quality Seiko product. I own many high end watches, various Swiss movements, but I love Seiko. The quality, technology and reliability are unsurpassed. This watch is high intensity titanium/ceramic, not dull in appearance like many other titanium watches. The brilliance of this watch isn't the case or material, it's the cutting edge technology that Seiko puts on your wrist. Wonderful GPS, super accurate (Atomic) time anywhere in the world, to within 1 second every 100,000 years. Even if the GPS fails the quartz movement is accurate to within 15 seconds a month. Daylight savings time feature, press a button to set it in spring and fall, no no need to correct the time. Has airplane mode which turns off the GPS. A must have for travelers. Solar powered, any light will charge it, never needs a battery and holds a charge for 6 months. Has a depth to it when you look at the face, beautifully done, hand set subdials and Seiko name, with an attractive easy to read stadium ring. Along with a large date at the 3 o'clock position. It has a very high end appearance that you would expect from Seiko, it's a larger watch but feels good on the wrist due to the titanium ceramic construction (5 piece links). Wonderful easy to read dial, super lumi bright hands and markers done in green. Genuine sapphire crystal with super clear coating. Screw down crown and water resistant to 10 bar, (100 meters). Includes instructions in several languages and a DVD. Seiko has set the bar once again. The only thing I wish it had is a clasp with micro-adjustments, I have a 6 7/8" wrist and have to wear it a bit loose because I can't adjust it to an exact fit, micro adjustment clasp would solve this. Also sorry I missed out on the limited 100th Anniversary edition. Ordering from ShoppingInJapan was relatively easy but they require the use of Pay-Pal. I had my new watch in about a week.

I seem to collect watches (I have about 25) and Seiko hasn't been on my list of "must have's" but this watch is my favorite. While it's a little thicker than I like, because it's titanium, it's lighter than almost all of my other smaller, thinner watches. The styling is stunning, and I travel extensively so having a GPS watch is terrific. Best of all, I owned a Citizen and when I went to change time zones I had to pull out a manual. This I learned in 10 minutes. A great watch. And getting it from ShoppingInJapan was great. Exceptional customer service.
